The
Weekend
Academy welcomes proposals from schools and community groups to develop and
manage artists’ residencies, both at Byam Shaw and within the community.
Residencies inspire artists and participants alike, re-energising participating
staff and students.
Lynn
Cox, EYoDP artist-in-residence, 2003
Artists-in-residence have the opportunity to expand their practice both through teaching and discussion, and via access to technical and workshop facilities at Byam Shaw. Students and communities working with artists-in-residence have close and regular contact with a practising artist, whom they get to know on a personal and a professional level.

Artists’
residencies, 2003
Tim Dixon, postgraduate student at Byam Shaw, undertook a residency at Bridge School, Elthorne Road, leading workshops with students with autistic-spectrum special needs.

Lynn
Cox and Nancy Willis were appointed as artists-in-residence as part of The
Weekend Academy’s European Year of Disabled People activities. Both
artists led workshops with summer school participants.
Sculptor Lynn Cox developed large-scale wall-drawings and light-drawings for a forthcoming exhibition.

Painter-printmaker
Nancy Willis spent an intensive period using Byam Shaw’s etching and
intaglio facilities.
